World Blood Donor Day takes place on 14 June each year. The Day was created to:
· raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion.
· highlight voluntary, unpaid blood donors make critical contributions to national health systems.
· support national blood transfusion services, blood donor organizations, and other non-governmental organizations in strengthening and expanding their voluntary blood donor programs by reinforcing national and local campaigns.
People around the world need blood each and every day. Blood is life-saving to those in need. If you can give blood, please consider giving this gift. People of all ages require blood for a variety of reasons, and you can give the gift of life and save a life!
