Each year, Katie Cares celebrates the fantastic volunteers that work, share their time and talents at Katie’s Cottage. Guests enjoy home baked bread, muffins, cookies. All baked at the cottage, for the guests to enjoy.
Katie’s Cottage is blessed with 40 wonderful, caring, loving volunteers who work along side the staff at the cottage. The cheerful attitudes and the smiles make the cottage a place of peace, comfort, a soft place for guests to relax. The volunteers work at a variety of jobs, baking, cleaning, laundry, visiting with guests, preparing breakfast or the weekly supper. January 19, 2020 was a night to celebrate the volunteers and all that they do for Katie’s Cottage.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Buhler Active Living Center, the meal was prepared by Chef Martin and staff. Thank you to everyone who was involved with preparing this meal. We enjoyed a turkey supper and it was delicious.
For the entertainment, guests were entertained by Quedenza, a group from Northland Parkway Collegiate. These 4 students performed beautifully. The group paid tribute to their beloved choir director Karen Giesbrecht. A song was sung by the group titled “Are you Gone?” written by Josiah Penner. The group of 4 and performed this song beautifully. Mrs. G (Karen) would have been so proud of this group. Each song was sung beautifully!! Thank you for sharing your musical talents.
Many thanks go out to the volunteers for their involvement in making the cottage a place of peace, a place to enjoy a cup of coffee and dainties, for all of your hard work.
See it…Believe it…Achieve it…
