Pictured: The Beanies form Minnewasta School

Grade 2 students from Minnewasta School have been learning about Katie Cares since the book Love Like Katie was released in the fall of 2018. They learnt about empathy, caring, sharing, being kind, which prompted the class decided to have a fundraiser. They had a garage sale, selling items at the school. The students raised enough money to purchase 41 Beanie babies,and made special tags for each of these special little furry friends. The students had fun, learning a variety of skills including math, and planning ahead.

Ruth went to visit the class on March 14, 2019. The children wanted to meet Kaitlyn’s mom. Ruth shared about Kaitlyn, about Love Like Katie, and some of the secrets associated with the book. The kids wanted to give back and make a difference, and we at the Cottage think that the grade 2 students at Minnewasta School did wonderfully! Thank you to all the students who participated, and to the Teachers and Parents who helped the children with this endeavor.
