This idea came from Kaitlyn Reimer. She saw a need while she was in hospital.  This was Kaitlyn’s first project she worked on.  This project was so important to her, and the start of her charity. Today the program has grown to include 4 hospitals, Carman, Portage, Altona, Boundary Trails .These bags are made for a child who is admitted into hospital. The volunteers at Katie’s Cottage put them together. The bags include the following 3 and under a blanket, Kleenex, a book. 4-8 toothbrush, toothpaste, Kleenex, small container of playdough, coloring book, crayons.9-14 tooth brush, toothpaste, Kleenex, markers, notebook, crossword or a word search book. But the key component in each bag is the Teddy Bear!! These bags are designed to give children a good memory of their hospital visit. Medical staff have said that they are a tremendous help.  Being in a hospital can be a scary time for children.  This is one example of how Katie Cares uses the donations that are received throughout the year. This last year, Katie Cares gave away 515 Katie Care bags. Many thanks for your donations to Katie Cares!!  SEE IT…BELIEVE IT…ACHIEVE IT….
