See it... Believe it... Achieve it...

The Beanie Baby is a tremendously popular program. Katie Cares provides Beanie Babies to the following locations, Public health offices at Boundary Trails Hospital, Menzie’s Medical Center, Altona Public Health, Carman Public Health along with Boundary Trails Imaging, Lab, and Emergency.

The program started when a collector called Ruth Reimer. The collector said she had about 700 Beanie Babies she had collected. The friendly little friends had never been played with but had been in cabinets. She was now downsizing and wanted to give the Beanie Babies to a charity. Katie Cares accepted the Beanie Babies.

The Beanie Babies have proven to be important not only to the children but to the medical staff. Staff have commented that by having the Beanie Babies children have become more compliant. Often children are scary, anxiety is high due to necessary procedures, or immunizations.  These fears are lessened when they know that can have a Beanie Baby.

The program had stopped for several months this year due to Covid. But we are happy to report that the program is up and running again. With a few modifications that are required by Southern Health the Beanie Babies are getting into children’s hands again. This year Katie Cares has given out 1230 Beanie Babies. Thank you to everyone who generously donates to the charity. We appreciate your generous donations. It really does make a difference, and Katie Cares is proud of the work that can continue.
