On November 21 Manitou Elementary School presented a cheque for $227.00 to Katie Cares. The money was raised by three grade 3 students. The three girls had read the book Love Like Katie, and they decided that they too wanted to make a difference. They made posters and got the entire school involved, they even got the local high school – Nellie McClung Collegiate – to participate. The fundraiser was Hat Day, every student who wore a hat paid a loonie. The three girls really took the message from the book to heart, they paid it forward, thinking of others. The money raised will be used to purchase teddy bears.
