After Kaitlyn started her charity in October 2010, she started to give away Teddy Bears/Beanie Babies. These cuddly little friends have become extremely important to health care providers. Tears are wiped away and smiles appear. When children receive these cute furry friends, the bad memories are replaced with good memories. When a child receives a Teddy Bear or Beanie Baby they help to alleviate stress, fear and anxiety.

Katie Cares provides Teddy Bears and Beanie Babies to Portage, Carman, Altona and Boundary Trails Hospitals. Also to public health offices in Morden, Altona, Boundary Trails and Carman. We have been given strict guidelines that must be followed in order to give the stuffed animals to these health facilities. All stuffed animals are new, they are tagged with the Katie Cares logo. Staff wash their hands prior to handling the stuffies and packing them in clean bags for delivery. We don’t want to pass on any infection to a child who may have a compromised immune system.
