Kaitlyn Reimer started her charity 5 years ago. It was Kaitlyn’s vision and dream to make a hospital stay less stressful. In this short period of time, Katie Cares has grown tremendously. Kaitlyn’s dream and vision became that much closer last week. Katie Cares officially held a sod turning on November 6, 2015. The sod turning marks a milestone for Katie Cares and for the Reimer family. Kaitlyn Reimer had expressed her desire for a house to be built close to the hospital. This home will provide a place for families to wait while a loved one is in hospital, or a place to rest and rejuvenate. The home will be staffed with volunteers ready and willing to make a visitors stay comfortable. The house will be a home away from home. The home will provide many amenities to make their stay as comfortable as possible. The house will be built at Grandeur, plans to start building will start in several weeks. Winkler Building Supplies will be doing the on site prep work such as concrete and any construction on site. To stay up to date on the construction please visit www.katiecares.ca to view pictures and current news. Updates will be posted weekly. Thank you to everyone in the surrounding communities for all of the support that has been shown and given. Although Kaitlyn passed away May 20, 2012, her dream and legacy live on through her charity. A big thank you to Katie Cares Executive and Board for your support. We as a family are truly humbled, encouraged and blessed by the support we have felt over the past 5 years! SEE IT…BELIEVE IT…ACHIEVE IT…
