August 3 2016  Katie’s Cottage opened it’s doors to guests!! Today we celebrate the anniversary of opening the cottage.

Looking back on the year, many emotions, changes have happened to the cottage. The hopes and dreams of Kaitlyn Reimer were fulfilled!  Kaitlyn’s dream was to have a home away from home.  Katie’s Cottage has provided over 600 guests a place to find peace, comfort in a stressful time. Many changes have taken place over the year.  Changes such as, shrubs planted, planters with flowers, a shed has been built, Katie’s Lane (walkway) is completed, Nature’s Nook with a picnic table and benches located along the walkway.

The parking lot has concrete, a coffee bar has been added in the bedroom wing, key fabs are now working, gazebo will be on site soon, a deck with BBQ for guests to enjoy.

All of the changes have only improved Katie’s Cottage. Katie Cares has made a concerted effort to always use the donations in our area. We believe in shopping and supporting our local businesses.  Too give back to the communities that have so generously donated to this project. We appreciate the donations that we continue to receive.  Donations are used in a variety of ways, to keep the cottage operations moving forward.  Thank you to everyone who has donated to Katie’s Cottage, we could not have done this project without the tremendous support that we have experienced!! A big thank you to our many volunteers who come to the cottage and provide a service. We appreciate your willingness to serve in this capacity.  Katie Cares would also like to thank the staff who work at the cottage.  Each staff member does a fantastic job, we appreciate you!! A big thank you to the Katie Cares Board and Executive for your direction, for laying down a solid foundation so that the charity will continue to grow for future generations!

The hopes and dreams of a 15 year old girl continue to grow. Kaitlyn had the dream, the community of Manitoba rallied around the idea.  The cottage will continue to help countless guests who need a home away from Home!!
