The Pembina Valley Hawks Bantam AAA participated in Hockey Fights Cancer in December.  The team did several events to support organizations who work with families who dealing with cancer. Katie Cares was one of the organizations that the team chose to fundraise for the charity.  The charity benefited with 4 laundry baskets of Beanie Babies.  We are grateful for the tremendous support from the Bantam AAA Hawks players, opponents, parents, supporters.  The Beanie Babies are a vital tool for medical staff.  Children’s tears are wiped away with smiles after they receive a Beanie Baby. The following is what the team did in their fundraising efforts.  See it…Believe it…Achieve it…

Donated to Canadian Cancer Society: $557 (Hawks 50/50 portion, shot radar event set up outside rink, donations, and “I Fight For” poster sale proceeds)

Donation to Katie Cares: a multitude! of beanie babies :)  At our last 3 home games we asked for donation of stuffies and beanie babies, and between fan contributions, donations from our opponents at those games, Yellowhead Chiefs, Winnipeg Warriors and Winnipeg Hawks, and contributions from our players, we presented to Ruth with a huge number of beanie babies the day of our Hockey Fights Cancer Event.

Donation of Jets tickets: $1000 value –thanks to KPIC, we were able to present two families who are currently in a cancer struggle with 2 tickets each to the Feb 16th Jets vs Blackhawks game
